![]() The Muslim officials that remained in office were mostly lower court persons (the raissa with civilian arguements). The locals (except Frankish knights) were seldom called for duty in war. Yet, the Crusaders used the opportunity and put large taxes on the populace. The Crusaders or Franks abolished these systems and replaced them with their own feudal ones – the local Arab system remained on a very basic level. Also, the larger lords were given permission to tax the people besides the tax for the land itself. These lands were mostly inherited from father to son. The Arabs had a system which gave lands in exchange for service in war. The Outremer had large cities, which were mostly absent in Europe. The situation in Outremer, however, was not fitting for the feudal system despite the fact that the Muslim states used a system relatively similar.Īs already mentioned, the system used in the Kingdom of Jerusalem (and in the Counties of Edessa, Triplo and Antioch) was similar to the French feudal system, although it had been adapted to the needs. I'll probably convert to mainline Islam or Shia Islam at some point, I only took this version b/c there was only one Count in all of the Islam region from whom I could afford a favor. The weakness of the Crusader States in Outremer came mostly from their build up – the same feudal system that was used in France and Germany. At one point though, I was fighting all of Britannia (minus Mercia), and managed to win. We managed to defeat Pictland, seizing all of it (and instantly embroiled in a revolt war to revoke the territory from it's holders (who were Christian I had Religious Revocation on), then I was invaded by a sizable Kingdom whom I threw into the Sea. I managed a successful invasion of Pictland, buying a favor from the duke of Mercia (who had a ton of land), then arranged a betrothal that gave a non-aggression pact, then formed an Alliance. It required a bit of work, and time to do and plan out, but it was successful. I managed to find two Christian characters with the Sayyid trait, the older of which died (he is found in some of the earlier pictures), and the other I managed to marry into my line so that the children would be born of my dynasty, giving them the Sayyid trait. ![]() ![]() I started as Forbasach in Ireland, invited a Berber to come be my court tutor, teaching my children and future vassals to adopt his culture.Īs for the religion, I bought a favor from a Muslim count, and then forced a betrothal, secretly adopting her religion, and slowly expanded the secret cult until my character died before his daughter could be inducted (the female character I was), so it later came out in public rather randomly. I also got text I assume is bugged 'I have returned to my court a changed man', oddly enough she was still able to have children so I somehow doubt she was ever a man at all. I was raiding a few independent regions every couple of years, 'fellow' Christians, was sitting on about 800 gold when the holy wars began in the middle of my war to subjugate the King of Pictland into being my tributary (which unfortunately I had to whitepeace out of due to these more pressing wars), and summoned up enough troops to turn the tide and ultimately win, gotta love that Berber overseas raiding, if you guys have never tried it, it is definitely worth trying. ![]() ![]() So starting as an Irish Count, I've managed to turn all of Ireland into the Ibadi Faith, won two holy wars at once against two opponents of comparable power by abusing how overpowered Tribal + Berber is together. Unfortunately the first guy died of old age (he was like 50 something), there was a second one, the only one in the entire world who was a Christian (or of any other religion other than a Muslim), so it took a bit of work (he was initially imprisoned for awhile, but I managed to gain access to him and marry him in the right way the moment he was old enough). ![]()
